This is an old bass. The serial numbering system changed shortly after Fender was taken over by CBS. The number 168429 dates from 1965 - 1967. So sometime around when the Beatles were making their last ever performance at Candlestick Park to put it in context.

This depends. The Fender Jazz bass has been around for quite some time, so the year could be from the 1960's all the way to now. The best way to find out the year of your Fender Jazz bass is to look at the headstock. On the headstock, you will see a serial number... do a web search for that serial number to find the exact year of the bass.

According to the Fender website, the serial number 369229, was made somewhere between 1970 and 1973. I have a 1964 Fender Jazz, the date is stamped on the neck. I suggest if you want to take your bass apart, you have an expert do it, or find out the next time you have it serviced.
