1876
At the battle of little big horn yelling charge like a school boy. That's what the child murderer gets.
It was named to honor George Armstrong Custer who had met his fate a year before the county was formed.
Custer was shot in the left breast, just below the left nipple, and also in the left temple. The breast wound bled ... the head wound did not. Thus, the breast wound was likely the fatal wound, and the head wound was likely done post-mortem.
He was shot in the back by cavalry forces under Custer at the infamous Washita massacre in1868.
A short time after the battle Custer's body was found lying on top of another dead soldier, shot in the chest and in the left temple. On the ground next to him, 17 shells from Custer's Remington sports rifle were identified; his brother Tom Custer and adjutant Lt Cooke lay dead close by, shot with many arrows. All the bodies were stripped and mutilated, except that of Lt Colonel Custer, who only had awls thrust into his ears.
Arthur Custer's birth name is Arthur Russell Custer.

Custer is best remembered for getting himself and his regiment killed. Although there are reasons for this and it may not have been entirely Custer's fault, he is still best known for "Custer's Last Stand".Custer is best remembered for getting himself and his regiment killed.
