In 1839 an American, Charles Goodyear, discovered a method to mqke rubber stronger, more elastic, and less sticky. In 1845 the first air-filled rubber tire was patented by Scottish inventor Robert W. Thomson, but it was not until 1888, when British inventor John Boyd Dunlop patented his tire design, that the rubber tire industry really started.

On March 17, 1845, Stephen Perry of the rubber manufacturing company Messers Perry and Co, Rubber Co Manuf London patented the fist rubber bands made of vulcanized rubber. Perry invented the rubber band to hold papers or envelopes together. try using google once in a while.

goodrich Charles Goodyear invented the process for making rubber that he named vulcanization. Goodrich then made the rubber last longer by adding carbon. Goodrich also invented synthetic rubber.
