When a horse is born, it is called a "foal." Then, when it gets a bit older, it is called a "miniature horse." this is the age where you can tell what gender it is. Then, after being a miniature horse it grows into a horse or a pony. Hope I helped!

Ans= Small Horses are known as ponies. There are many differant breeds of Ponies, the smallest of which( the fallabella ) reach just past your knee. A pony must be 14.2 hands or less . 14.2=148 cm. This is measured at the base of the neck.

If you mean a horse 38 inches or under, you may be talking about a miniature horse, or a dwarf. If you mean horses that are above 38 inches but still small, it could be a shetland pony.

If it's a baby it would be called a foal. (Filly=girl, colt=boy)

A pony, no matter how small is still a pony. There are a few breeds of pony that are particularly small, these include the Shetland pony, Fallabella miniature horse, and the American miniature horse. Remember, pony is a height designation for any equine under 14.2 hands high.

A pony. Usually people refer to all small horses as a pony but pony actually means a baby horse. Other small horses are called miniatures.

Technically, pony is a different breed of equine. There are ponies, and then there are horses. However, it has become normal to say that baby horses are ponies.
