Climate change is often used interchangeably with the term 'global warming', although it includes predicted changes that are the result of global warming. Global warming is a term used for the gradual increase in average global temperatures since the beginning of the Industrial Age, and is considered to result from human activities such as burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and deforestation.

Climate change includes global warming, of 0.75 degrees Celsius since 1850, when instrumental measurements began, and predcitions of a further 2 or more degrees over the present century. It also includes sea level rises, more prolonged droughts, more frequents severe floods and more intense storm activity, all influenced by increased average global temperatures. Climate change will bring fundamental changes to the environment in which we live.
