What do you do if your toilet fills up with water but doesn't go down?

First, try using a plunger to force the clog through the pipes. That could be all you need to do. Taking the toilet apart is pretty extreme. ---- Try to plunge water out or as much as you can. Shut off water supply to toilet. Dip remaining water out of toilet and toilet tank. Disconnect the flex line on the bottom of the toilet tank it should screw off by hand. Loosen bolts that hold toilet to the floor usually located on the left and the right at the base of toilet. It's best to have a new wax ring on hand to install once you pick toilet up from the floor. If you don't see your problem in the drain pipe, gently lay toilet down and look in the hole in the bottom of your toilet. I've see from spoons to chicken bones, don't forget your rubber gloves.

If your toilet does not fill properly then maybe Three main rezones behind it.
- Faulty fill valve 2. Defective flapper or 3. Defective Fill Valve
These are the main rezones for not filling the toilet tank properly or slow filling.

Try using a plunger on it or fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and pour it into the bowl as fast as you can without causing the bowl to overflow. A lot of the time, this will flush out the line because that is 3 or 4 times the volume of water that is normally used.
