When you add engine coolant to a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee because the low coolant indicator has come on, you should add to the reserve tank and the radiator if they are low. Sometimes, just the reserve tank needs filled.
Low coolant? Radiator plugged or restricted? Water pump not circulating coolant? Hoses collapsing? Thermostat not opening?
The light is not a coolant light, it is a temperature light which comes on when the temperature of the coolant is above the limits. In other words you engine is overheating. Can be defective thermostat, bad water pump, clogged radiator, or blown head gasket.
I believe the 1990 year still had the sealed system. So there is no rad cap. You can add fluid by pourig it into the overflow bottle with the vehicle running the coolant will be sucked into the system. No radiator cap exist in the 90, 91 model. You add the coolant to the coolant container (The coolant container cap is the equivalent of the radiator cap, (pressure device))and the palstic container is under pressure all the time. Be carefull when you want to open it after the car has been running. After those year models, Jeep discontinued the use of the pressure container and went back to tha radiator cap and remove the pressure coolant container.
Low coolant, failed thermostat, inoperative radiator fan, failed waterpump, failed head/headgasket, etc.Low coolant, failed thermostat, inoperative radiator fan, failed waterpump, failed head/headgasket, etc.
The coolant temperature sensor on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee is located in the intake manifold. It monitors the flow and temperature of coolant through the engine.
Check to coolant level in the coolant recovery tank and radiator when engine is cold
If your 1998 Jeep Cherokee is leaking coolant, it might be a seal but it is more likely that it is a hose. This might also be a radiator leak, a loose hose clamp, or the freeze plugs in the radiator.
The engine computer uses the signal from the coolant temperature sensor to decide when to activate the radiator fan relay.
through the overflow bottle
My low coolant light remains on eventhough I have filled the ressovor. what can I do?Found after removing and replacing the sensor and bottle still had error, finally drained radiator and added correct coolant mixture in radiator, indicator went away. Appear I had a weak mixture of coolant and water in radiator, which kept giving me the "ENGINE COOLANT LOW' I guess it really was low in coolantRead more: Why_does_your_jaguar_XJ8_say_engine_coolant_low_when_it_is_full
Radiator coolant.
In systems that do not have a radiator cap, the coolant is drained by the radiator drain plug. It is filled by adding coolant to the system through the overflow bottle.
on a 1999 jeep grand cherokee where is the coolant fan relay
Coolant goes in the radiator or you can also fill the radiator resevoir.
Low coolant, radiator restriction.Low coolant, radiator restriction.
You add coolant to a C240 at the radiator overflow tank. This allows the radiator to suck in coolant as needed when hot.
