Kinetic Energy, or KE, is the energy objects have when in basic motion.

If you are talking about the movement of particles in the object, creating heat, it is IE, Internal Energy.

and FYI, Potential Energy, PE, is the energy an object has in accordance to its position.

We generally think of kinetic energy as the energy of an object's motion. This can be contrasted by considering that potential energy is the energy of an objects position (in a gravimetric field). With kinetic energy, the more mass and the more speed, the more energy. With potential energy, the more mass and the higher we lift it (to a point) the more potential it has to do work.

A moving object has vector energy Ev= mcV, associated with its velocity V. Potential energy is real energy or scalar energy.
