The original "Bozo the Clown" , played by Pinto Colvig ( Vince DeBar "Pinto" Colvig , Born September 11 , 1892 , in Jacksonville , Oregon ) , died October 3 , 1967 , in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , California at the age of 75 from lung cancer . He was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City . Sinced then , there have been a number of Bozo the Clown characters in the U.S. and around the world . Larry Harmon was the one who created , named , and voiced the animated character . Harmon died on Thursday , July 3 , 2008 at the age of 83 from congestive heart failure . Pinto Colvig also did the original voice of Disney's Goofy , Practical Pig ( the pig who built the "brick house" in Disney's "Three Little Pigs" ) , both voices of Sleepy and Grumpy for "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" , and the barks for Pluto the dog .

Created by Alan Livingston, the character Bozo the Clown was tremendously popular in the United States in the 1950's and 1960's. The character was first created in 1946 for the purposes of read-along books produced by Capitol Records.
