Conscription had little impact on WWII mostly because a lot of men were going to sign up voluntarily for the service that the US army could not handle them all. They were all given a number and sent home and when their number was called they would then go enlist in the army. It is where the modern Selective Service comes from.

Canada voted for concsription in 1942. The English voted for it and the french voted against.

Although a plebiscite was held to allow conscription in Canada in 1942, men were not actually sent overseas until 1945. A total of 63% of Canadians voted for conscription however King held off until things got even worse.

Conscription is when the government forces men and women to go to war with out any kind of choice. Most of the English speaking Canadians agreed with Conscription but very few French-English Canadians agreed because of how they were treated during WW1.

About 100,000 were conscripted in the Canadian army in WW2.The RCN and RCAF were all-volunteers.

Um so that they could help each other out because the british had basically abandoned them. BNA (British North America) also wanted some land to the west which is now Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan. If they didn't all come together then they could never claim that land. They wouldn't be able to trade without each other. Those are just some pros of joining, i don't know many cons. After all i am only 13. I looked up this question hoping for some more answers because that's all i got.

Yes, there was a crisis. The Mackenzie King govrnment had won re-election with the promise that there would be no conscription of soldiers, which earned them the majority of seats in the electorally important French speaking province of Quebec. But, as the war dragged on, pressure mounted to conscript. Pressue came especialy fomr poarents of those enlisted, who realized that the stronger the military contingent, the better. The King government compromised by bringing in conscription but with the limitation that a conscript would only be required to servce home duty. However, once enlisted, the conscripts were exhorted to sign up for overseas duty. As an indicator of sentiment on the matter of conscription, the mayor of Montreal, the popuular Camillien Houde, was arrested under war measures rules and interned for four years because he publicly promoted resistance to draft registration.

Conscription essentially divided the French and the English of Canada. Basically the French refused to fight and the English were getting tired of making up the ranks. Canada needed more soldiers and since the French refused to fight, the government imposed conscription. So much for Viva la France! Ps Ever wonder why France won't recognize Quebec's claim to sovereignty? Now you know!

Who people was the first Canadian?

Although the land presently known as Canada was occupied for thousands of years by first nations people it was not known as Canada until 1535 when French explorer Jacques Cartier used the word Canada to identify lands used by local inhabitants. By 1545, European books and maps commonly referred to this region as Canada. So these first "Canadians" were the local natives and the French explorera and settlers. If, however, there were no "Canadians" until the Dominion of Canada was formed in 1867, then the first Canadians were the native population, the British and French settlers, freed and escaped slaves from America, and immigrants from around the world. Aboriginal were the first Canadians. The first Canadians could speak 53 different languages.

Why was World War 1 considered a bad war in Canada?

No--quite the opposite. Canada proved itself as a nation, not just a colony of the British Empire (although it remained a loyal part of the empire). Canadian troops fought under the Union Jack at the beginning of the war, but as time went on, all-Canadian units and regiments were formed and became much valued contributors on the battlefronts. This culminated with the capture of Vimy Ridge in April 1917. This was a hill in France that was extremely important from a strategic point of view, and the British forces (and their allies) had been unable to capture it. The Canadian army was able to accomplish it, and begin the turning of the tide--although there would be no real victor in that first world war. At home, there was controversy over the issue of Conscription--whether the government could force young men to join the Army (not unlike the U.S. Draft). English Canadians (i.e. outside of Quebec) generally favoured the concept--believing in fighting for the Empire--whereas French Canadians generally opposed it. It really became a non-issue, since the war ended not long after the election where it was an issue.

Did Canadian conscription have any outcome on world war 1?

Yes it was but for a very short time. There was an election known as the "khaki election" where two candidates, Laurier and Borden were running for prime minister. Broden was for conscription Laurier was against. Borden won but barely even enlisted anyone, 100,000 enlisted but there were so many loopholes in the system that 90% of them got out of it.
