Hannibal never died, well he can't Silence of the Lambs the jail Officer said Hannibal bite off the nurses tongue and ate it but his heart beat/rate never got above 85. So he was always in a state where he could control the bleeding and since he ate lots of meat (Human too) That had an effect somewhat. Or when it came right to it, he just escaped since he always sneaks up on his victims he has ways of making decoys (People dressed as him, as in Silence of the lambs where the police officers come into his cage and get beaten up, and Hannibal quickly put one of the Officers in his own clothes, while he got away in the Officer's clothing) Hoped that shined a light on the question being asked.
