Answer 1

Islam is an Arabic word that means submission and surrender to God. In this sense Islam began by the universe creation where all God creatures were created under their submission (Islam) to God. Upon start of mankind, they are taught through God prophets to be on full submission (Islam) to God. All prophet missions; including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, was to hold submission (Islam) to the one and only one God, the Creator.

In this sense:

  • Islam per God revelation of Torah to Moses is called Judaism.
  • Islam per God revelation of the Bible to Jesus is called Christianity.
  • Islam per God revelation of Quran to Muhammad (born in year 570 AD) is called the very name Islam. Quran God revelation to prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the angel Gabriel (or Jibril) started by year 610 AD through year 632 AD (year of prophet Muhammad death)

Answer 2

Islam began historically on the Arabian peninsula, in the towns of Mecca and Medina (near the west coast inland from the Red Sea). Muhammad (570-632 CE) preached a message he (and all Muslims) believed to be revealed by God. Muslims believe him to be an ordinary man with the extraordinary task of being God's last and greatest prophet.

When did Islam spread to so many parts of the world?

7th century: Middle East, North Africa, Persia, Afghanistan.

8th century: Spain (until 1492), Central Asia.

10th-13th centuries: Turkey, sub-Saharan Africa, India (including modern Pakistan and Bangladesh), Malaysia, Indonesia.

14th-16th centuries: China, Philippines, Eastern Europe.

20th century: Western Europe and North America

Answer (from Islamic Perspective)

Islam is an Arabic word that means submission and full surrender to God, the one and only one God. In this broad sense, it is the God mission to all his prophets from start of mankind until the last prophet Muhammad (peace upon him), including Adam, Noah, Abraham (Ibrahim), Ismael, Isac, Jacob (Israel), Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, ..., Jesus, and Muhammad (peace upon them). However,

  • the religion per God revelation to the great Messenger and Prophet Moses (peace upon him) is called Judaism,
  • that per God revelation to the great Messenger and Prophet Jesus (peace upon him) is called Christianity, and
  • that per God revelation to the great Messenger and Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) is called the very name Islam.

Muhammad didn't bring any new faith , he just made the teachings of Allah , the teachings of Jesus more specific and famous . since the concept of worship was same except without any corruption like Christianity with time...

Answer 3:As per Muslim , Islam and Quran ... the Islam is absolute religion which exists from the day one of the mankind and Adam (peace be upon him) was the first prophet/messenger of Allah ....and the last being Muhammad (peace be upon him) ......

The following verses from Quran proves the point ....

And He(Allah) taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: "Tell me the names of these if ye are right."

( Quran,Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #31)

Allah did choose Adam and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of 'Imran above all people,-

( Quran,Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #33)

We(Allah) have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.

( Quran,An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #163)

And remember We(Allah) took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn covenant:

( Quran,Al-Ahzab, Chapter #33, Verse #7)

We(Allah) gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of apostles; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you an apostle with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay!

( Quran , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #87)

Islam had been alive as long as the world has been, every prophet who ever came only spoke about Islam, bu if you want to know when Islam came to Makkah it came in 610 A.D when the prophet Muhammad (S) was 40 years old.

Muhammad didn't bring any new faith , he just made the teachings of Allah , the teachings of Jesus more specific and famous . since the concept of worship was same except without any corruption like Christianity with time...

Islam was neither FOUNDED nor DEVELOPED by some person. Islam is the religion given to mankind by the Creator, Almighty God. All the holy Prophets (May peace be upon them all) preached Islam. The last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) started preaching Islam at the age of 40, in 570 AD in Makka, Arabia. Islam is based on human nature and preaches universal human brotherhood. The basic belief of Islam is ONENESS of Almighty God Who is the Sole Creator, Sustainer, Provider and Ruler of all the worlds. He has no Son, no Parents, No Partner. He is Unique, Nothing is like Him. He is the CREATOR, all others are His CREATURES.

For many Muslims the term "Islam" has two meanings: the Divine Religion of Submission to God's Will (often called Islam with a small "i") and the Institutionalized Belief as Found in Qur'an and Revealed by Mohammed's Prophecy (often called Islam with a capital "I").

islam with a small "i" is a concept that comes out of Islam with a capital "I" and projects the Established Religion of Islam back into the period before would have identified as Muslim. The purpose of said belief, in a functional sense, is to gird Islam in the history afforded by the Judeo-Christian prophetic lineage and ensure its authenticity. islam also affords the believer in Islam a continuity of tradition which Mohammed only continued and corrected as opposed to having the religion of Islam be an affront or disagreement with other divinely-inspired religions. Since islam is derivative of Islam, it does not actually exist prior to Islam.

Islam, as an Established Religion, was organized and directed by Mohammed, who was born in 570 C.E. at Mecca, in Saudi Arabia. According to Islam, he received revelations from God in Mecca in from the year 610-632 C.E. He was supported by several family members like his uncle Ali Ibn Talib and his first wife Khadija to pursue these prophecies. He converted other members to his nascent religion before being expelled from Mecca to Yethrib (now known as Medina) in 622 C.E. When Mohammed became the Chief Hakam or Judge/Administrator of Yethrib, he received many new revelations and began to ask members of his community to memorize these revelations (along with prior ones). These memorizers (in Arabic Hafeths) would eventually be responsible for the creation of one unified Qur'an. By Mohammed's death, he had conquered all of Arabia and converted most of Arabia to his new faith, establishing the grounds for an Islamic Caliphate, which succeeded him.
