Becoming a US Citizen is called naturalization. There are different processes required depending on your immigration status before you start the process. The government agency that regulates naturalization is called USCIS, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and you can look at their website at uscis.gov for more information.

There are very, very few US citizens who want to stop immigration. Many of us want to put an end to illegal immigration. We are a nation of immigrants; we all have immigrant backgrounds. Immigration is and always has beena good thing. But people shouldn't think that you can become a US citizen just by entering the country. There aren't many nations on earth where citizenship is open to anyone who simply arrives there.
