Yes, David met Abigail prior to his reign in Hebron. The meeting and marriage to Abigail is detailed in 1 Samuel 25, before the death of Saul and David's reign in Hebron (which is detailed in 2 Samuel 2).
David first ruled from Hebron for seven and a half years (2 Samuel 2:11)
2 Samuel 2:11 - And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.2 Samuel 5:4, 5 - David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah. [NKJV]
I kings 2.11 says, " The period that david reigned over israel was forty years, seven years in Hebron, and in Jerusalem , he reigned thirty three years" So adding these years together, i get a total of 80 years. I believed that the period of david's reign was 80 years.
By the time he was king, he didn't live there any more. He reigned seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
Saul and his men did not accept any plan to make David king. After Saul's death there was warring between Israel and Judah. David was made king over Judah and Saul's son made king over Israel. There was warring and covert acts which between the two until it was apparent that David could not be defeated. Eventually Israel submitted to David becoming the king over all Israel, including Judah2 Samuel 53 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king over Israel.4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah......10 And David went on, and grew great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.
David was 30 years old when he began to reign and it was only after he had reigned in Judah for seven and a half years that he then reigned for a furthur 33 years "over all Israel and Judah" :- 2Sa 5:4-5 KJV David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. [v. 5] In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
No-one killed David: he died of old age:-1Ch 29:26-28 KJV Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. (v.27) And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem. (v.28) And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
David reigned for 40 years, Seven from the city of Hebron and 33 from Jerusalem. - 1 Kings 2:11
Abigail married Nabal of Carmel. Nabal was a sheep shearer.
King David reigned for 40 years. I Kings 2:11 - David reigned for seven years in Hebron, and then thirty-three years in Jerusalem between the years of around 1000 and the 970's BC. He is thought to have been contemporary with the pharaoh Siamun and Ahirom king of Tyre/Byblos. This has been confirmed by most Biblical scholars and certain fragments of Aramic documents support this. Thus we see a reign in total by King David from the 1000 BC to 970 BC dates as stated above.
Abigail was the name of king Davids daughter.improved answer:WIFE, not daughter. David married her before he even before he became king. David's daughter's name was Tamar. Abigail's personality was obviously caring and considerate, since she saved the life of her entire household by making up for her husband's, Nabal, foolishness.
