In the year 350 Pope Julius fixed the date for the celebration of the birthday of Christ as December 25. The actual birth date is not known. The date was set to coincide with the Winter Solstice when pagans celebrated the Dies Natalis Invicti Solis- 'Birthday of the Unconquerable Sun.'
