Life begins under martial law, simply..when martial law is declared. Someone who has enough power and influence on Army to gain and control over power (denying all democratic rules, institutions and practice). This usually happens in the 3rd world countries. Some General decides to have power...and at some time wants to have money. This happened in many countries. Pakistan, Nigeria, the Philipinnes, Panama, Bangladesh, Iraq, ...........100s of countries. Its a bad pracice. It must be stopped. One can't steal from the <small resources>, thev people have in those countries. There are some solutions, which International community, Press, UN, Governments can do. Embargo, not recognising, zero tolerance, Limitation of movement, business..etc etc.

What kind of rule does military authority take over civilian law?

When was the last time martial law was used in US?

Its not something that's "used". It just happens. When there's chaos or the government falls apart. During Hurricane Katrina there was a state of martial law.Added: The above statement is only partly true, It does not "just happen." The Governor of a state or the President of the US can declare Martial Law.Added:Martial law was never declared during or after Katrina and the term does not exist under Louisiana state law. Furthermore martial law, or the suspension of habeas corpus, cannot be declared federally without the approval of congress and even then only in cases of rebellion or invasion. Individual states and the federal government can declare a state of emergency which is similar, but does not throw the Constitution out of the window. The last time the federal government applied martial law was in Hawaii during WW2 after the Pearl Harbor attack.Habeas Corpus, is "to see the body" it is a legal term meaning the judge wants the person before him, and martial law was declared in Katrina it does not take congress, that's the suspension of posse comitatus, the state governor can declare martial law and he did, in Katrina

What are the types of martial law?

1. Full Martial Law is characterized by the presence of full combat ready troops in the streets of our city and towns. 2. Martial Law Jurisdiction. This form of Martial Law is what governs our service personnel. They are under the jurisdiction of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Under the UCMJ your rights are a privilege granted by the UCMJ and not protected by an appeal to the provisions of the Constitution for the united States. 3. Martial Law Rule. This aspect of Martial Law puts the civilian population under the exclusive direction of the Congress. Does anyone question the reason Congress uses the word "war" when singling out a perceived social ill. There are so many other adjectives that can be used why use the word war. Does not a declared war place the population under Martial Law? Does the declaration of war not put the entire country in a combat zone? Think about it.
