The manual windshield wiper was patented in 1905. The first wipers were mechanically operated by hand. Automatic wipers were invented in 1921. Wipers were standard on all cars by 1916.
They are headlight washers. When the headlghts are on pull the windshield washer switch. It activates both windshield and headlight washers.
Laundry equipment usually refers to clothes washers and dryers.
the pump for the washers is contained in the reservior which is located on the right side of the engine compartment right by your coolant reservior. the sprayers themselves are just tubes that run up your windshield wiper arms.
Possibly freezing. Make sure you are using Windshield Washer Fluid and not water.

The windshield washer pump is in the middle on the reservoir right under the hood. and you need no tools to change it.
We have a 2002 S-80. The headlight wipers work automatically when you use your windshield washer fluid to wash your windshield.
Most likely, it isn't a fuse. Windshield/windscreen washers and wipers typically use a relay, rather than a fuse.

It's the rain sensor! Unless you replaced your windshield with another rainsensing windshield, you'll need the old rain sensor pried off the discarded windshield! It's because the washer circuit (and delayed wiper circuit) run through the rain sensing circuit! Re-connecting the rainsensor (even though it will not work for sensing rain) will complete the circuit and restore your windshield washers! (I had this exact problem and solution on my 96 ETC.)
