the Chevy aveo uses a timing BELT and it should be changed NO LATER than 80,000 miles
This is what I did: http://home.earthlink.net/~aveobot/id1.html
The water pump is the tensioner for the timing belt. if you need to adjust it, replace it.
It has a timing belt. Make sure that you replace it ever 60,000 miles. If it snaps on you, that is bad news!

if timing belt brakes while driving, will it damage motor.
I broke my key in the ignition and cant get it out. My only option I can see, is to replace to tumbler. How do I remove it?
It didn't replace it. The Chevrolet Aveo's name changed to Chevrolet Sonoc.
Well on a 2005 it is behind the timing belt. It is kinda hard to get to it took the auto shop 2.5hrs of labor. I hope this helps
about 400 dollars at dealer however if it breaks on you it can cost you 2000 dollars, that's right i said 2000 dollars!!!! i know from experience, it screwed up my engine royally, also finding out its 200 for alternator, will never buy a piece of junk like this ever again!!!!!!! and yes it is a 2004 says you should replace timing belt every 30 thousand miles, that's 400 dollars you have to spend every 30 thousand miles
How do you change the wheel bearings on a Chevrolet aveo 2005
Usually all valves are bent, guides are cracked & possible some hydraulic cam followers are damaged. Best option would be source rebuilt head from a machine shop or similar vendor. In addition the timing belt idler must be replaced. Water pump is optional but strongly recommended.
Yes. The Sonic replaced the Aveo in 2012. The Sonic does much better than the Aveo. The sonic is a nice and cute car.
