When does a timing chain on a 1995 SL1 Saturn get changed?
It needs to be changed if it has excessive slack in it. Usually this is indicated by a noise that can be heard at idle and felt in the valve cover. It usually doesn't go away with increased speed. If you replace the chain, I'd also recommend changing the tensioner.
