The Eucharist Liturgy (for the Roman Catholic Church) is divided in three parts: the offertory, the consecration and the communion. The offertory is one of the most important between this three, because is the moment of the holy mass in which the priest offers to God the bread and the wine to convert them in the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

At the offertory, the gifts are brought to the altar and Father blesses and offers the bread and the wine to the Father in heaven. Then he washes his hands, asks the people to join him in praying over the gifts (May the Lord accept . . .) and he concludes the rite by the Offertory prayer, used to be known as the Secret, as it used to be said in an inaudible voice.

At the end of the Liturgy of the Word, the offertory begins the Liturgy of the Eucharist, thus it takes place immediately following the homily, (creed) and Intercessions.
