When is Aurora's birthday?
The aurora borealis is actually a very common occurrence on Earth; it is said that auroras occur almost every day. However, their light is so faint that they are out-shined by the sun when they happen in the day. Therefore, the best times to see auroras occur in the winter, when nights are longest. Auroras also become more frequent when the sun is most active during its 11-year cycle.
Auroras are created at both the North and South magnetic poles. In the north it is called the Aurora Borealis and in the south it's called the Aurora Australis. This is caused by the solar wind interacting with the earth's magnetic field and our atmosphere. in cases of strong solar storms, the Auroras can be seen much farther from the poles.
Most people think that the auroras only appear at night. Actually, the auroras are happening all the time, they are just harder to see during the day. The best time to watch the auroras is around midnight, when the auroras glow more violently than before. Soon afterwards, the auroras fade into colorful cloudlike patterns where they swirl and loop until dawn, when they are overpowered by the bright path of the rising sun. The aurora…
