There are rumors that Ricky Gervais will replace him (but I highly doubt that). Gervais plays the boss on the UK version of The Office and is a producer of the American version of The Office. Melora Hardin (who plays Jan Levinson) claims that the show could still continue without him because "the show has other strong characters that could be focused on." Steve Carell is leaving after the seventh season of The Office:( I personally can't imagine the show without him but they might do just that.
