We don't know when the next big asteroid strike on earth will be. But we are sure it will happen. Sooner or later. There will always be a number of predictions out there as regards when we'll get hit again, but until you hear it from a group of astronomers who have done their homework, it would be wise not to worry too much about it. Oh, and those "seers" who say one is coming? They'll be passing the hat or otherwise expecting payment. Little rocks from space hit the earth all the time. But the history of the earth clearly shows that every once in a while, a very large rock from space slams into us. The damage is so great that large numbers of individual plants and animals are wiped out. Additionally, whole groups of species are killed off indirectly in the aftermath of the collision, and this owing to the damage to the biosphere the blast causes. We think the dinosaurs were terminated as a result of the effects of such a blast. We are starting to look for these near earth objects now. We've got extra eyes on the skys to see if we can spot them. We're crunching numbers all the time on rocks we spot to see if any are coming uncomfortably close. But we haven't seen the next big one with our name on it. Yet.
In fact, many asteroids hit the earth every year!
Most of them are small enough to burn up in the atmosphere though, and the few that reach the surface are too small to cause significant damage so there is no reason to worry.
Big asteroids that can significantly damage our environment or kill many people, plants and animals do hit the planet from time to time, but the chances that we would not see it coming many years before and send up a rocket to "nudge it out of the way" are really really low.
No, ateroids will hit earth when toilets fly!

At the present time, no major asteroid is predicted to hit Earth.
Asteroids with a diameter of about 5 -> 10 m hit the Earths atmosphere about once every year but are vaporised by the atmosphere with the power of a Hiroshima nuclear bomb.
Calculating the path of an asteroid is a very tricky procedure and many have been "predicted" to hit - 2002 NT7 (Not too sure is NT7 is Windows 7!) was "predicted" to hit Earth in 2019 but after analysing it's trajectory with greater detail it was removed from the list of "objects presenting a threat".
There is no such prediction: it is not known when an asteroid will hit Earth. There are only some estimations, every how often asteroids up to a certain size will hit Earth, but no specific date.
No specific date is known, but there are estimates on the probability. From Wikipedia ("Impact event"):
"Asteroids with a 1 km diameter strike the Earth every 500,000 years on average. Large collisions - with 5 km objects - happen approximately once every ten million years."
The arrival of asteroids is unpredictable; it is doubtful that we would get more than a month's warning, and may be a big one will arrive in the next minute.
No one can tell the exact day or time.
There are currently no asteroids that are predicted to hit the Earth. Nothing in the sky that is big enough to be visible is likely to hit us.
However, astronomers frequently discover nearby objects that are very close indeed. in fact, last October, astronomers located a fairly small asteroid on a collision course with Earth - only 18 hours before it hit. That asteroid, a fairly small object about the size of a small house, exploded over the Sudan without causing any known damage or injury.
And last month, astronomers discovered an asteroid that's in a "co-orbit" with the Earth, never very far away and moving in pretty much the same direction.
The nearest thing to a "prediction" is the asteroid Apophis, which will come very close to Earth on Friday, April 13, 2029, and again on Friday, April 13, 2036. However, further analysis of the orbit of Apophis indicates that there is only one chance in 40,000 that it will hit.
No asteroid collision is predicted.
That's not the same as saying we have a guarantee that it won't happen.
But nothing has been observed yet that's on a collision course with earth.
As far as I know, there are no specific predictions. Some asteroids are predicted to pass nearby; the probability of any specific asteroid actually hitting Earth is quite small.
the next asteroid is predicted in 2029
no it was not an asteroid that hit the earth, it was kevins big mouth
No. An asteroid can be anything from 10 metres to 487km as in the case of Ceres the largest asteroid.
size doesn't matter its the angle and speed of the asteroid that it is at, plus if that did happen the earth would either drift off into space and eventually get back into a orbit because of the suns gravity or explodes and everything would just flip, roll over, fall how ever you wanna put it. plus its nearly impossible for a asteroid to do that it would probably do what i said in the second sentence.
some predict the the dinosaurs died of a big asteroid.
The big bang or God created it. Mostly the big bang is the scientific reason and God is the religious reason.
The chances of an asteroid hitting earth in the next 30 to 50 years are low. If it does happen, we will not know how big the object will be until it is discovered or, if we are less lucky, until it hits us. Currently no known objects are expected to hit earth any time in the next century, but some are being monitored for a present, albeit small risk.

Probably an asteroid, meteor or comet.
ey big back!
Anywhere from a small asteroid to Earth's size, depending on the planet.
If its big enough... It can kill a lot of people
it will exploded the earth or if it lands in the water it will make a really big tsunami.
asteroids are big in the shape
The Daily Orbit - 2012 Is Asteroid Capture NASA's Next Big Thing 1-154 was released on: USA: 8 April 2013
rocks of dust :)like a big rock with holes in themor a big pile of space dust combine togetherand probably another asteroid hit the Chicxulub asteroid whic cause it to come to earth:(
Yes they all could destroy Earth depending how big it is, how big the impact is when it hits, and where it hits, but its possible. Hope this helps.
324 meters.
