"Judge not lest ye be judged" (Luke 6:37) means to condemn someone to hell. The Bible says nothing about not using your head, not knowing what's wrong and not being smart about it. I would hope that Christians would shape up and treat others with respect, regardless of whether they agree or not. For the most part, Christians do this, but there are those that give the group a bad name.
The Morality of HomosexualityHere is an excellent debate concerning this issue:http://www.apologetics.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=134339&page=1
It depends entirely on whom you ask.
Some people will say that it's perfectly normal and no more immoral than being straight (i.e.: not at all). Religious fundamentalists, especially Christians and Muslims, will often say that God forbids homosexuality. Some people will say that it is disgusting and unnatural. Some people do not have an opinion.
The majority of scientific evidence suggests that homosexuality cannot be controlled any more than, for example, eye colour, but this evidence is far from conclusive and is heatedly disputed. Although the Christian Bible and (I think) the Muslim Qu'ran say "a man shall not lie with a man as he lies with a woman. It is an abomination," there is considerable evidence to suggest that this is because ejaculation that has no chance of resulting in childbirth is considered to be sinful. Certainly, nothing is said of lesbian sex or loving, caring relationships between two people of the same gender, it merely states that sex between two men is "an abomination." Many religious people will quote the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, which is supposedly about the destruction of two cities for the sin of homosexuality. These interpretations however, are seen to be incorrect, and those sins were idolatry, rape, and prostitution.
It is ridiculous to assume that there were two cities with only gay inhabitants, especially as they would have no children and so the entire population would die off within one generation. Also, there is a mistranslation in the passage that changes the meaning considerably. Regardless, both books also say "love your neighbour as you love yourself" (twice in the Bible) and the Bible also says "judge not lest ye be judged" and "love the sinner but hate the sin."
Therefore, discrimination against gay people is a sin, regardless of whether homosexuality itself is or isn't. There are non-religious people who consider homosexuality immoral. This is generally because they have been raised to believe this and because of the sexist idea that women need men to protect them. It is hard to argue that something people cannot control can be immoral and gay people all agree that they cannot control their sexuality, though some straight people dispute that; i think it would be best to assume that it is perfectly acceptable unless presented with overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
There's a really good article about this discussion here: http://www.findreligion.net/maybe-god-is-making-people-gay-on-purpose/
Also, please tell me where in the bible God specifically says that a committed, monogamous, loving, Christ-centered relationship between two people of the same sex would be an act of disobedience against God.
'What the Bible really says about homosexuality'Recent studies by scholars who study the Bible in context of other lines and in context of the times have shown that homosexuality is not wrong, and those verses are often misinterpreted. Heres sites that show that all lines usually mentioned against homosexuality, had nothing to do with homosexuality itself, but idolatry common during the times, as well as prostitution, and rape.http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/Heights/2554/kallos/bchtext2.HTML

How a closed minded person succinctly "thinks," spells, and yells this issue:
-A TRUE CHRISTIAN IS ONE WHO FOLLOWS CHRST AND THE BIBLE. IT IS TRUE THT THERE ARE HALF HEARED CHRISTIANS WHO STILL LIVE WORLDLY, GOD HELP THEM. STOP CHANGING THE SCRIPTURES SO THEY ALIGN WITH YOUR BELIEFS!
-GOD CREATED ADAM AND EVE NOT TO MEN OR TWO WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 YOU NEED HELP.
-NO IT DOESNT SAY THE CITY WAS FULL OF IDOLITRY, RAPE AND PROSTITUTION IT SAYS HOMOSEXUALITY. STOP ITERPERETING THE SCRIPTURES TO YOUR LIKING!
-YOU DISAGREE WITH THE BIBLE? TOO BAD THEN, GOD SAYS WE DO. YOU HAVE MISINTERPERETED THEM. YOU NEEDS THE HOLYY SPIRIT.
-ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? IF YOU READ THE BIBLE IT CEARLY STATES THAT HOMOSEXUALALITY IS A SIN. DO NOT CHANGE THE SCRIPTURES TO YOUR LIKING. ITS GODS LIKING THAT COUNTS. GET A LIFE AND REEAD THE BIBLE THE TRUTH. AND STOP INTERPERETING IT FOR YOURSELF!
- These men who study the scriptures are scholars and probably claim to be christians but don't even practice Christianity! ARE THESE SCHOLARS FILLED WITH GODS SPIRIT,
YOU CANOT INTERPERET THE SCRIPTURES WITH YOU MIND because GOD COMMUNICATES THROUGH THE SPIRIT! READ THE BIBLE AND GET THE FACTS RIGHT!
And that pretty much sums it up right there... The answer is, "Just don't use your mind." It's that simple.
Those who use the bible to back up their bias against gay people have not fully read or understood the bible. There are only a handful of statements in the bible about homosexual behavior, and most of them are in the old testament. Many of the proscriptions against homosexual behavior are in Leviticus; if one is going to insist homosexuality is wrong based on these passages then one must also insist that wearing cloth woven of two different kinds of thread is wrong.
The bible has been used to justify or condemn countless activities, beliefs, creeds, races and behaviors. To claim there is only one way to interpret the bible is naive: there are clearly many, many different ways of interpreting the bible. If there were not, then why are there so many different factions of Christianity? To use the bible as any sort of yardstick of moral behavior today is to willfully ignore the hundreds of thousands of ways human beings have matured and evolved as intelligent, social and spiritual beings. We no longer believe that mice spontaneously grow out of piles of dirty rags. We can leave behind many of the myths of biblical 'morality' as well.
Homosexuality has been in existence as long as recorded history. It exists in rich variety in both the human and animal population. How could something so prevalent be wrong? It's like saying left-handedness is wrong.
Various books have been written on this issue. Homosexuality is not wrong, immoral, and doesnt harm others.
Another point to consider is that when you're being preached with quotes from the bible "Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders" supposedly taken from a 2000+ year old book, understand that the word "homosexual" was not coined until 1869 by Austrian-born novelist Karl-Maria Kertbeny. So how it happens to be included in a true reading of the particular biblical passage should make you ponder how accurate the interpretation actually is. It would not have even appeared in the King James version. Chances are pretty likely the modern concept of "homosexual" wasn't even in anyone's vaguest imaginings 2000 years ago.
My final point would be to suggest you check out the documentary "For The Bible Tells Me So" and check out what it says about "Bible Literalism" and which has numerous biblical scholars explaining the conflicting Biblical interpretations.
Christian Answer:
In the bible, there are several references that shun homosexual acts, and homosexuality in general. It's generally thought by Christians to be unnatural and very lustful (something frowned upon). However, it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad; the bible says homosexual acts are sinful, but simply being attracted to the same sex isn't. This is because you are not punished for being tempted- everyone is- but you're punished by how you react to temptation. Thus, if you are homosexual, BUT never engage in homosexual acts, you aren't necessarily condemned. But if you happen to choose not to live sad and lonely your whole life, and find true love, Christianity believes that God condemns you for this.
Another Answer:
No, it is not a sin to be gay or to find love with another person of the same gender. There are many interpretations of Leviticus 18:22, which was clearly written before homosexuality was understood (even a little), and if your church or parents are telling you that gay people falling in love with other gay people is a sin, they are just misinformed. If God didn't want gay people to be just as happy as straight people, God wouldn't have created gay people.
The ethics of being homosexual depend on the current norms of the culture one lives in.
Only when a person believes what their church tells them, and denies the idea that homosexuality is not a choice, and gay people have just as much right to love as straight people do.
Depends on who the hypocrite is, right?
No, It isn't harming anyone.
No. This branch of Judaism rejects homosexuality as immoral, since the Torah forbids it (Leviticus ch.18).
Morality depends on the society in which you live. In some societies homosexuality is immoral, in others it is not.AnswerMorality depends on choices. For example, it can't be immoral to be left-handed (though at one time it was thought to be so).Since homosexuality is not a choice, it can't be immoral. As for homophobia, it is always a bad choice to express baseless hatred, so a strong argument can be made that homophobia is immoral.AnswerWhether homosexuality is determined by an individual's genetics, an individual's choice, or a combination of factors that may include societal, environmental, and even prenatal hormonal influences, has not been conclusively demonstrated. With respect to the question as to whether something is immoral or not, that concept is a function of acceptable societal norms, and as such, varies by the society in which one finds him or herself. As regards homophobia, the suffix phobia refers to an extreme and/or irrational fear or aversion to something...it may, but does not necessarily, reflect an individual hatred. If an individual's homophobia reflected an extreme fear, for example, it would be difficult to characterize something over which he or she had no control as being immoral. This issue has long been the subject of discussion, from scientists to ethicists. It will not be resolved here by the pronouncements of interested parties on either side of the question.

The question implies that there are circumstances under which Homosexuality is NOT all right, and that lust is inherently not all right. That would be a question pertaining to personal ideology, religious beliefs or morals. In point of fact, both homosexuality and lust are definable as normal within the range of human behavioral traits. Lust is a biological response that helps drive human beings to reproduce. Homosexuality is behavior that appears in many species of animals in almost the same incidence as it does in human beings. These facts argue that both are perfectly normal. Whether or not you feel that either is morally wrong is a belief system you are imposing on behavoirs that, in themselves, have no moral component. They are simply evolved traits within our species. For example, Human beings can kill each other... we have evolved with the ability to do that. That ability itself is not a moral issue. It would not have evolved if it was not advantageous in some sense. However, we all agree that there are circumstance under which killing is justifiable, and others when it is not. Therefore, it is context and intent that determines whether killing is moral, not the killing itself. Lust CAN be immoral, if it is indulged with immoral intent. Just as homosexuality can be immoral if its is expressed as, say, rape. However, neither, in and off itself, can be correctly characterized as wrong.
Trophy hunting is immoral.
Yes, "immoral" is an adjective that can be used to describe something as going against moral principles. If something is referred to as "little immoral," it implies that it is only slightly or to a small extent immoral.
