Yes.

Though the photosphere is closer to the center of the sun and

photosphere temperature = around 4000 K to 6400 K and

chromosphere temperature = about 4500 K to as high as 20,000 K

where the chromosphere joins the photosphere is about 7,800 degrees Fahrenheit. it gets hot as you go out though
