Hi, Yes they usually are. Some women do experience a light spotting or a light period for no more than 3 days during the first month they conceived and this can sometimes be mistaken for a period especially when it arrives around the time you expect your period but it is usually implantation bleeding.

Light bleeding in the first few weeks of pregnancy is also called implantation bleeding. It can last anywhere from 1 to 7 days. It will be extremely light if it is indeed implantation bleeding. Women can experience very light "periods" during the first 6 months of pregnancy.

When spotting occurs between menstrual periods, there can be many causes. Spotting can occur due to hormonal changes, birth control, or implantation bleeding of pregnancy.
