When the anti-theft device has been activated on a 2000ford 150 how do i reset the system?

I had this problem today on my 99' F-150. The dealership told me to remove the key from the ignition and wait for 15 minutes. Then attemp to start the truck as normal. After two attemps it worked. If this did not work I would have to have the truck towed in and have both Keys and the module worked on,
