If her uncle, Edward VIII, does not resign, abdicate, then QE II does not become Queen. In 1926 when QE II was born Edward VIII was the Prince of Wales, her father, who became George VI was Duke of York.

Yes, which is how England currently has Queen Elizabeth as their Queen. She was the eldest child of George VI, and thus first in line for the throne when he died.

Who did elizabeth take over the throne from?

Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603, a long, long time before Queen Elizabeth II was born. You might be referring to the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, wife of George VI. She was never styled as Queen Elizabeth I or II though, because she was not a sovereign. She was a Queen Consort, the wife of a King, but had none of his powers, nor was she in line to the throne. When George VI died, the throne passed to the next in line, Elizabeth II.

Who will be next queen after Queen Elizabeth?

The next in line for the British throne is Prince Charles, the son of Queen Elizabeth. If anything should happen to him, Prince William would be next in line for the throne. Since these are men and will be a king, not a queen, obviously, there will be not be another queen in England for the foreseeable future. The next female in the line of succession would be HRH Princess Beatrice of York (number 5 in the line of succession).

Why did she become Queen Elizabeth the 1 become queen?

Neither Elizabeth I or II were appointed. They ascended the throne because they were born to royalty and were in line to inherit the throne. Elizabeth I was the second child of Henry VII and third in line. When her brother Edward and sister Mary both died childless, Elizabeth inherited the throne. Elizabeth II was the oldest child and had no brothers so she was first in line to inherit the title when her father died.

Can a person in the UK become a sovereign?

You have to be born into the line of succession. Even if you marry the reigning King or Queen, you will only be a Queen consort or Prince Consort, not a sovereign in your own right, and you are not included in the line of succession, so will never inherit the throne.

Because he is not in line for the throne.

Would kate become queen in her own right?

She's not in line for the throne, so will not be the same as the current Queen. If William becomes King, as his wife, Kate would become 'Queen consort', though she shares none of her husband's powers. This is different to a female monarch, a Queen regnant such as Elizabeth II, who is the one who was in line for the throne.
