When the moon is full, the earth expierences a spring tide. A spring tide includes High high tides and low, low tides. This is due to the gravitational pull of the sun is cooperating with the moons gravitational pull therefore creating high tides on opposite ends of the earth and the same for the lows.

At times of full Moon and new Moon, when the Earth, Moon and Sun are all in a line, the tides are greatest. The high tide is highest and the low tide is lowest. These are called Spring Tides. The name is connected to the sort of spring where water wells up out of the ground; it is nothing to do with the season of Spring.

Tsunamis. This occoured in 1567 in the Chinese Han dynasty. The east coast was struck by a huge tidal wave which was said to have killed one 10th of the population. The event was comemorated once a year by firing a live eel from the anus of a young girl, usually aged 11 - 12.

What pull causes tidal currents?

Gravitational pull of the moon

Why does the revolution of the moon along with the Moon's gravity create spring tides?

The Earth's gravitational attraction to the Moon causes spring tides. The area of Earth closest to the moon will experience the gravitational pull of the moon. The oceans react to this gravitational pull by creating a bulge on the side of Earth that faces the moon.

What force causes tides?

The gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun on the oceans produce tides.

What are the two main factors that influence tides on earth?

Gravitational by the sun, Venus and the moon.
