In August of 1888 Vincent Van Gogh began a series of paintings with Sunflowers.
Vincent Van Gogh (1853 - 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist Master whose innovative artwork powerfully influenced modern Expressionism, Fauvism, and early abstraction. Astoundingly prolific, Van Gogh produced all of his work during a 10-year period, at one point, creating 150 paintings and drawings within one year. Painting outdoors, Van Gogh uniquely captured the nighttime nuances of light and shadow, and was also renowned for his paintings of sunflowers and irises. Tormented by mental illness for most of his life, Van Gogh created many of his masterpieces while he was institutionalized. Although Van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime, he is now regarded as one of the most profoundly influential artists of the 19th century.http://www.art.com/asp/sp-asp/_/pd--10020646/Vase_of_Flowers_c1887.htm
hi i like pie and penuts
According to wikipedia, van Gogh painted 4 series of "Sunflowers" between 1888 and 1889.
The real question I believe was how long did it take Vincent van Gogh to paint his paintings of The Sunflowers. Not taking into consideration the whole series,... say of each painting on separate canvases, for instance his "Munich Sunflowers" from the start to finish of the single painting,... I'd haft to answer in this way. Well,... in looking at my own painting I bought from a New York estate seller a few years back on eBay of a painting of his Munich sunflowers he painted on canvas, the one I believe he painted for Gauguin's bedroom, I'd haft to guess from start to finish in looking at the paint application, the drying factors, the use of his impostor paint style with absolutely no overlaying of any paint, the accuracy of color used and the size of canvas,.... it looks to me to have taken him no more than five hours total to paint them.
There exist paintings from 1882, but he was not a professional until 1885.
The earliest painting by van Gogh still in existence was painted in 1881. It is Still Life with Cabbasge and Clogs.
The nine different versions of this subject were painted in 1887 and August 1888.
He painted 7 of them in 1888, after having painted four in 1887.
He did not paint the seven Sunflowers paintings in a single day.
He painted for less than 10 years.
Vincent did not tell us.
He made seven Sunflower paintings. He did not record the time spent on ech one.
He did not tell us, but in the last few months he made one painting every day.
A day or so- oil paint takes a very long time to dry
The question is a little vague. Oil painting as opposed to watercolors or painting in gerneral? Art, whether it's painting, dance, or music, is a form of self expression. His art was a way to show the world as he perceived it.
For about eight years.
Not until long after his death.
8 years as most kids in those days.
Vincent did not tell us.
His first paintings are from 1881, he died in 1890.

No! He died a long time ago, because he killed himself with a gun that he borrowed from a friend. He was a great artist.
He did not tell us, but in the last few months he made one painting every day.

Vincent's older brother, who was also named Vincent, died exactly one year before the painter Vincent was born. Theo who was actually Vincent's younger brother died in 1891, roughly six months after his older brother.
he wrote him a very long letter about the importance of color orange in his work and its relation to his obsession of eating them
