Britain has had many governments founded in many different years. For example, the Union of the Crowns in 1603 united England and Scotland under one monarch. The Acts of Union of 1707 made the dual role of the king official. The Acts of Union 1800 combined the governments of Britain and Ireland. There is not one single year for the formation of the British government. Also note that the terminology can confuse the question. Each time a new majority in Parliament sends the Queen a new Prime Minister, they say that a new government has been formed. Gordon Brown became the current Prime Minister in 2007.
