It was Sunday morning.It later became traditionally known as Easter Sunday,which is sometime in April.

Luke:24:1-8:

There are many differing answers for this question depending upon which Church you belong to. Mainstream Christianity celebrate this event at Easter which is on a Sunday. Others simply do not.

Some scholars have placed the crucifixion and burial of Jesus to the end of Passover Day, just before sunset and the beginning of the Days of Unleavened Bread - an Annual Sabbath. These same scholars believe Christ was in the tomb for a full 3 days and 3 nights and arose just before sunset of the last day of the week. He was seen in the early darkness of the first day of the week or Sunday.

Burial - Passover, Wednesday, 25 April 31 AD after the 9th hour or 3 PM.

Risen - just before sunset Saturday, 28 April 31 AD and seen in the dark hours of Sunday by Mary.

Now what most all Christians celebrate is the Pentecost on a Sunday which is correct as Pentecost means 50 days after the Resurrection. This is 7x7 or seven days times seven weeks which is 49 days or Saturday to Saturday and the next day or plus 1 which equals 50 days and is Sunday.

Even with this logic, tradition prevails for many.
