When was the Colosseum in Ancient Rome destroyed?

Fortunately, the Colosseum was never destroyed. It's a little the worse for wear, but it still stands in Rome as a monument to the glory of a bygone empire. After the fall of the Roman empire, it was used as a fortress. Today it survives as a tourist attraction.
