∙ 13y agoThe union flag is a combination of the English flag, the Irish flag,and the Scotland flag. The flag was made in 1801 because Ireland and Scotland had joined England,so the wanted to make a flag to represent all of the countries. Wales is also a part of the United Kingdom but it was already a part of England.
It should be noted that the correct term is Union flag.It does not become the Union Jack until it is positioned in the corner of the flag, as in the Australian and New Zealand flags. Thus, there is no such flag as the "Union Jack flag".
