The very first edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica was published in Edinburgh, Scotland some time between 1768 and 1771. The original edition consisted of three volumes. By 1810, the fourth edition of the E.B. was a staggering 20 volumes. The last printed version was the 15th Edition, published in 2010, and consisting of 32 volumes.
