Men did not think that woman should be able to vote. They thought that because men fought in war, ran the household and woman only cooked and cleaned, that men should be the ONLY ones that should be able to vote.

I would say 1756 when a town meeting gave a woman the right to vote, but the first National Woman's Rights Convention was in 1850. A general answer would be the early part of the 19th century...
