When you make a tower with straws do you supposed to put more at the bottom?
I have a project called earthquake tower challenge and i need to know how do you make a house out of 30 straws and 100 paperclips and 20 pins and 2 meters of string and carboard as a base?
<X X> It should look kinda like the example above. Except it would be squares lol. Make two crosses with the 4 long straws put the ends of these together so that one square is made then make two right angles with the four short straws and place them at the other side of each cross to make three squares in a diagonal line. :)
I would first make sure that the ends of the straws are blocked off - that way they will contain air and will be bouyant. The simplest way to do this would probably be to fold over and inch on each end and then tape it down by wrapping a piece of tape around the straw. Assuming that you have made your bouyant straws the same length, you should be able to place several straws…
There are various types of dodecahedrons. A regular dodecahedron has twelve faces, each with five edges. Altogether there are thirty edges. So you could make a regular dodecahedron with thirty straws, or one very long one! You could even make one with sixty straws, but you would have to join them together in pairs to make the thirty edges! For more information, see 'Related links' below this box.
