When your friend threatens to kill herself what do you do?

  • When a friend threatens suicide then everyone around her should take her seriously. She should be seeing a psychologist and on medications prescribed by a doctor, but at this point in her life she is too confused and depressed so she will most likely refuse to do so. The best thing to do is tell her parents or any other relative that is close to her so they can deal with the situation and as her friend you can be there for her to encourage her and let her know there is nothing in life that cannot be fixed and life is still worth living. Until she receives the help spoken above she may not care what anyone thinks at this point and this is why it is most important that her parents or a relative get involved immediately to be there for her and get her the help she needs. If you are going to tell her parents please do not tell your friend because there is always the possibility she may bold and run and perhaps carry out her suicide threat.
