Reggae started in the West Indies. I was first aware of it in England in approx 1968 or 1969, but I presume it had been going in the West Indies a year or two earlier. A famous early number was 'The Israelites' by Desmond Dekker and the Aces.reggae was a mix of rock and blues together but also was sometimes a bit of a sob story from someone's life
