The best place for just about ANY car is on the frame. The frame is the part of the car underneath that everything else is connected to. in the case of a back tire, putting the jack under the axle near the side of the tire you're changing probably won't hurt it. imagine this 0---0 is your rear axle. the circles are your tires and the dashed line is the axle. Placing the jack close to the middle but slightly to the side of the tire that needs changing (see the middle dash of the dashed line? either side of that) would be your best bet.
