This info for catera 1999 RH SIDE Get ready to go aww geeeez! RH Side SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT (RH Side) Removal Procedure Tool Required: J 43301 Coil Pack Remover Relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the intake manifold. Important: Counterhold the fuel hose connections when loosing to prevent damage to the fuel rail. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the intake manifold. Unclip and reposition the heater hoses from the retainer. Remove the heater hose retainer bracket bolt from the intake plenum. Remove the heater hose retainer bracket. Disconnect the coil pack electrical connector. Remove the coil pack retainer bolts. Thread in the J 43301. Important: Do not overtighten the J 43301. With even lifting pressure, lift and remove the coil pack. Remove the J 43301. Clean the spark plug recess area with low pressure air. Remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head. Installation Procedure Gap the spark plugs. Spark plug gap: 0.9 - 1.1 mm (0.035 - 0.043 in) Notice: Be sure that the spark plug threads smoothly into the cylinder head and the spark plug is fully seated. Use a thread chaser, if necessary, to clean threads in the cylinder head. Cross-threading or failing to fully seat the spark plug can cause overheating of the plug, exhaust blow-by, or thread damage. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems. Install the spark plugs to the cylinder head. Torque: 25 Nm (19 ft.lb.) Inspect the coil pack seals and spark plug boots for damage or wear. Replace as necessary. Align the spark plug boots with the spark plugs. Carefully press and seat the coil pack in place. Install the coil pack retainer bolts. Torque: 8 Nm (71 in. lb.) Connect the coil pack electrical connector. Install the heater hose retainer bracket to the intake plenum. Install the heater hose retainer bracket bolt. Torque: 8 Nm (71 in. lb.) Install and secure the heater hoses to the retainer. Connect the fuel return hose and fuel supply hose to the intake manifold and tighten to specification. Important: Counterhold the fuel hose connections when tightening to prevent damage to the fuel rail. Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lb.)
How do I replace the spark plugs in a 1999 Cadillac Catera?
Under the throtlle body / upper intake manifold which needs to be removed to access the 3 spark plugs on the driver's side. The other 3 are on the passenger side of the engine.
head gasket!
The spark plugs are under the throttle body on my 1997 Catera, assume they are in the same place on your 2000. Just unplug the hoses and electrical wire clip/connections, unbolt the throttle body and you will be able to access the plugs.
Under the throttle body. It is not difficult to remove. Look it over good. there are a couple hoses and a clip then remove the bolts. It should lift of quite easily.
0.035-0.043 in
if it is a v8 it has 8 spark plugs if its a v6 it has 6 spark plugs and ect
Torque the spark plugs to 11 lb/ft.
How can I change the wiring and spark plugs on my 1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville Concours?
there is two bolts on the intake manifold to the bundle of wires on the drivers side take them out and there is a plug in front of the wires and one on the side unplug them move the wires to the side and you should be able to get to the spark plugs a lot easier than taking the manifold off. on mine had to change valve cover gaskets its a little bit of a job.
