Steps to changing the timing belt on a 2005 VW Jetta Wagon 1.9 TDI?
Cambelt - Advice from the manufacturer is 60000 miles, some dealers recommend 50000.
On a 2005 VW Jetta TDI the timing belt should be inspected at 80,000 miles and replaced at 100,000 miles. Neglecting to do the belt could result in your car breaking down on you when the belt jumps, and further damage to the engine resulting in costly repairs. Since a 1.9 TDI engine is a high-compression diesel engine, it is an interference motor. This means that a snapped or jumped timing belt may result in… Read More

What is the normal lifespan of a turbocharger on a 2002 Jetta TDI My car has 92000K and the dealer says it needs to be replaced. Any Intel would be appreciated.?
If the timing belt on your TDI was not replaced at the recommended 60,000 mile maintenance it is a good chance that the engine was damaged beyond repair. When I purchased my 2003 TDI it had approximately 58,000 miles and I knew that the timing belt, serpintene belt, water pump, and alternator would need repair before another 60,000 miles would be safely accomplished. These repairs seem costly but in the end is a much better… Read More

Just finished engine rebuild on 2.5 tdi acv engine. Couldnt find a timing mark ANYWHERE. But...... inside the bell houseing, there is a notch!. You have to get your head right in the engine bay on the right hand side and look towards the the arrow shaped ally on the casing. The notch will only… Read More
Can some-one tell me were the relay switch is on a 1.9 tdi ford galaxy mk1, it is not by the drivers seat in the box.
Do not leave more than 60,000 on the diesel 1.9 TDi version, otherwise you may be looking at a £3,000 bill to replace the top of the engine.
How can I tell when my 350 GM 1998 EFI is timed at 10 deg before TDI it has only a line on balancer and V notch on timing gear cover no othe marks or lines?
The timing is not adjustable, It is controlled by the computer. Most of the time if the timing is off are not right it will turn the check engine light on. Then you will have to get a OBD2 engine scanner and go into the timing mode to adjust the timing and then the light will go off. If service engine light is not on then the timing is right. Thanks, I have lossened the… Read More

Why would a 1993 Landrover TDI sound as if it is only firing on 2 cylinders but there is no oil in the water or water in the oil?
could be the fuel pump timing ( just like a petrol, u can adjust the ignition timing by turning the distributor, same principle) with the engine running try slightly looening the ful pump then turn it one way if the engine sounds worse turn the other way
YES. 100% sure for this motor. And I have never seen a diesel that isn't.

A TDI or turbo direct injection engine supplies diesel to each of the cylinders under pressure. On the other hand, the a quadrajet engine only uses one pipe which contains the fuel for all cylinders. When the pressure of the pipe increases, fuel is automatically injected to the cylinders.
Between 1993 and 2002 there were six different engine codes. I'd need that to tell you your answer. After 2002 the PD (pump duce) engine was used and that uses very special oil. Enter your registration number on the Castrol oil website and it'll tell you.
It is a gas, my girlfriend just bought one :) I have a 1998 vw beetle with a 1.9 tdi engine. tdi means turbo direct inject. it is a diesel engine and it gets 48 to 50 mpg! I love it!
Depends cummins powerstroke or duramax or even a little TDI Jetta are all different
At the same interval you changed it the first time.
Since you are already in there, it is best to replace that along with the tensioner, rollers, thermostat, coolant, and both timing and serpentine belts.
Assuming you mean Audi? If the timing belt has snapped you're talking about a new engine. Depending on the year and value of the car, if its say worth less than two grand then you'd be better writing it off. Never good news to get, sorry
If the belt isn't broken, $500 to $750. If it's broken---$3000.
5 years or 80,000 miles which ever comes first jamie
