The best place to start is in the phone book with stables that are listed, tack shops in your area, or try to find a large animal vet and ask them.-They know everyone. Start calling! It will be dificult if you don't already have experience with horses. Even if you do, you'll most likely be performing the "grunt work"-i.e picking stalls, etc. Don't think these jobs are unimportant, they are, and perform these duties to the very best of your ability. Warning-It is hard dirty work. If you are lucky enough to find someone who is willing to take you on, check out the place first before you say yes. See how they keep things. Is the place in good repair? Is the place neat and clean? What kind of condition are the horses in? Do they look well cared for? What's their reputation in the horse community? If you are serious about doing thisfor the long term, I can tell you that there is no point in wasting your time trying to learn things, or working for, someone who doesn't do the very best themselves. Seek out the best and learn from them.
