A DS is the 1st generation of all DS'es. Being that it's so sold and it's rare and hard to find, you could buy it on Amazon or E-Bay, for cheaper than the newer DS'es nowadays. I posted the link below for the regular DS.

*Fact: The DS has a totally different structure and is not as slim as the others and it has a GameBoy cartridge holder and a DS cartridge holder. It it also the successor to the GameBoy, named "the new GameBoy". It is also more bulky than the others.

The DS Lite is the 2nd generation of all DS'es. It's not as old as the original DS model, but it does not have most of the features of the new DS'es nowadays and they are fairly inexpensive. This model is easier to buy in-stores, than the previous model. You could get it in-stores or online. In-store places you could buy it from are, GameStop, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, EB Games, Toys R Us, and maybe you could get it in the Nintendo World Store in New York City, I'm not positive if you could buy it there, though.

*Fact: The DS and the DS Lite are discontinued.

The DSi is the successor to the DS Lite and is the 3rd Generation of DSes. It has picture taking capabilities, WiFi and internet browsing functions, sound recordings [the sound recordings record up to 10 seconds of footage], a DSi Shop which allows users to buy games for varied ranges of points and download them from their DS and it will be right on there after they purchase it with a DSi Points card or a credit or debit card, FlipNote studios, Picto Chat and DS Download Play. This DS is the starting DS to come with a "rainbow pen" PictoChat pen function, which allows users to not only go on Picto Chat and use it in the black colored pen, but also be able to click on the pen and it will change to a rainbow colored pen.

*Fact: Every model of DS comes with DS Download Play and PictoChat.

The DSi XL is the fourth-generation model and successor to the DSi. It has the same features as the DSi, only it's twice the size of the DSi. It comes with 3 new features that have not come with previous DS models, Brain Age Express: Math, Brain Age Express: Arts and Letters, and Photo Clock.

*Fact: It is meant for adults and people who have big hands. The DSi XL also still has the rainbow pen feature on PictoChat.

The 3DS is the fifth-generation model and successor to the DSi XL. It is the most recent DS and is easier to find and buy than the previous models. It's the first ever Nintendo gaming system to feature 3D capabilities and have several features such as 3D depth slider (allowing you to turn on and off your 3D capabilities), 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, a circle pad and a wireless communications switch. These are ALL NEW features that have never been available for any other Nintendo systems, (i.e.: Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Wii, Game Cube, etc.). It can play specially invented Nintendo 3DS Games that are specially used for 3D purposes as well as regular Nintendo DS games that cannot be played as 3D. Just like the DSi, the DSi XL and the 3DS, they do not come with a GameBoy game slot for users to put their GameBoy games in, that is only available on the DS and the DS Lite.

*Fact: The DS and the DS Lite are discontinued, but many stores still sell mostly the DS Lite, rather than the DS, but also online stores like Amazon and Ebay may be easier and less expensive to buy.

*Fact: The DSi, the DSi XL and the 3DS are the only DS'es as of 6/24/2012 that have SD slots which allows users to put photos, sound recordings and other pieces of data onto the SD card which would be plugged into their DS of their choosing and be allowed to transfer the data other places and keep their DS data on the SD card.

*Fact: The 3DS has a rather low battery life than the other DS models.

*Fact: The DSi, DSi XL and the 3DS have the Nintendo Shop which allows users to buy DSiWare which are games available with the purchase from a DS point card or a debit/credit/prepaid card.

*Fact: The 3DS has a photo and video recording and editing feature, 3DS Download Play, 3DS Sound, Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Video, Nintendo Zone, Activity Log, Game Notes, Friend List, Notifications Menu, Internet Browser, AR Games, Face Raiders, Mii Maker, StreetPass Mii Plaza, Swapnote (Nintendo LetterBox in PAL region, Eurosport (only PAL region), and Netflix. All the features listed above are only available on the 3DS as of 6/24/2012 and no Nintendo gaming system (i.e.: Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Wii, Game Cube, etc.)

Target, Walmart, Etc.
Most retailers will carry the new Nintendo DSi. Retailers like Best Buy, Game Stop, Wal-Mart, Argos, etc.

the cheapest one I saw was at GameStop, but you can go to google and type "really cheap DSi". Also try Swoopo, You can bid there. i hope i helped ya : )

There's another site www.buyingcheap.co.uk which compares the prices from the likes of Amazon, Dixons, Play, Argos etc. I think the cheapest price they were showing was from Amazon but the prices change and they keep up to date so it's best to check the Buying Cheap site out.

You can buy it in almost every shop that has a games section, such as Wal-Mart ($169)

Or, you can buy it in various online stores.

If you are in New York, you can go to Nintendo World which has more choice of colours and styles than anywhere else in the US (and probably the world)
The Nintendo DSi can be bought at a variety of stores, for example wal-mart, target, and other Toy stores. Also, look in game stores such as GameStop.
Anywhere that sells ds games there should be a DS or DSi around there. Good luck! There alot of money
