I guess it would depend where you live. In Los Angeles, I would try a store like the Paper Bag Princess on Olympic Blvd or a thrift shop on Melrose Ave.
Don't forget thrift stores and the Salvation Army. Many people don't know what to do with their bridesmaid dress so they donate it when they're cleaning out their closet. My town often has bridesmaids' dresses and prom dresses in the thrift stores.
