There doesn't seem to be a lot written down about Meriden Firearms. It was a subsidiary of Sears Roebuck and only operated from 1905 to 1915, and even those dates seem to be "flexible". The guns they made were almost all sold through Sears' retail stores and catalogs. The best research source would probably be Sears catalogs from that time period. I really doubt if they made anything like a 50 caliber rifle, but I can't say they didn't. A 32 gauge shotgun would also have a bore that is almost exactly a half inch in diameter, but that would have been unusual, too.
