I have the repair manual in front of me (Haynes), and it says that the Lumina has the PCV valve in the valve cover. Hope this helps? On the 1992 Sable with either the 3.0L or 3.8L it is on the back valve cover (closest to the passenger compartment). It is harder to get to the PCV on the 3.8L engine. The actual PCV is connected to a rubber grommet on the engine valve cover and the other side PCV there is a hose that leads to another part of the engine.
PVC Valve Removal & Installation # Disconnect the oil separator hose from the PVC Valve. # Remove the PVC Valve from the grommet in the crankcase. Grasp the valve and gently remove it from the grommet in the passengers side valve cover. Remove the valve from the hose by carefully twisting it out. # Inspect the grommet for deterioration. To Install; # If necessary, replace the crankcase grommet. # Install the PVC Valve. # Install the hose.
You are probaby referring to the grommet, a rubber ring, that fits in a hole in the valve cover, sealing off the PCV valve or the breather hose.

You PVC valve is gonna be on the right hand side valve cover it will be a lil rubber grommet that has a small hose coming out of it remove the hose from the grommet and with a pair of needle nose pliers and some lubrication gently pull the grommet our and the PVC valve should be inside of the rubber grommet
PVC Valve is located valve cover / crankcase cover. Removal; 1. Disconnect the oil separator hose from the PVC valve. 2. Remove the PVC valve from the grommet in the crankcase. 3. inspect the grommet for deterioration. To Install; 4. If necessary, replace the crankcase grommet. 5. Install the PVC valve. 6. Install the hose.
You have to disconnected the hose connecting the valve and the injector. After you need to pull out the PCV valve. You might have to help yourself with a screwdriver. If you are planning to keep the pcv valve grommet you have to be careful. If you are going to replace the grommet just be careful, prevent any staff falling down in the engine. Decrease the grommet. You might want to connect the valve to the hose before installation. Put the new valve in the grommet. If it's loose you need to replace the grommet or use high temperature silicon to fix the problem. If you had the check engine light on it's recommended to reset the computer.
First of all it is the PCV valve and not PVC(the plastic). The PCV valve is located on the valve cover towards the front of the vehicle, nearly 4 inches from the oil dipstick. It is inserted in a rubber grommet on the valve cover and is connected to a hose about half an inch in diameter. Both the hose and the grommet are fitted to th PCV valve by merely pressing them in. First press the hose on the PCV valve then seat(press) the PCV valve into the grommet.
The vent is held in by a rubber grommet. Lubricate the grommet and valve with some spray silicone. Wiggle the valve around to disperse the lubricant then pull the valve straight out as you wiggle it.
The PCV sits in a rubber grommet in the top of the valve cover.
