Although her name is not spoken of in The Bible (John 4), she is traditionally called "Photini', which literally means "the enlightened one." Because of the crucial role she plays in the conversion of her Samaritan village (and perhaps, even most of Samaria), she is given a place of honor in the Church in general, and in the Orthodox faith specifically.

She was a women who had come to draw water from Jacob's Well. [John 4:7] Her name is not known but Jesus told her she was living in the sin of adultery which she already knew. [John 4:18] This meeting was a little remarkable because the Jews did not usually associate with Samaians. [John 4:9]
We aren't told her name. But we are told that she was a Samaritan. At that point in time Jews did not talk to Samaritans. But Jesus being Jesus, he talked to her. At the Parable of the Good Samaritan; it is told by Jesus in order to illustrate that compassion should be for all people, and that fulfilling the spirit of the Law is just as important as fulfilling the letter of the Law.
