I Read/ Heard That At Least Two Stories Circulated Regarding The Band's Name. One Story Is That REO Speedwagon Stands For Red Engine Orange Speed wagon, Which Was A Fire Truck. The Second Story Was That Reo Speedwagon Was Named After The Station Wagon Which The Band Would Travel In. I Recall Reading In REO Speedwagon,s Wikipedia Page That The Band Actually Got Their Name From A Vehicle That General Motors Used To Manufacture- The REO Speedwagon, Which Apparently Was A Truck. GM Gave REO Speedwagon The Rights To The REO Speedwagon Name In 1971.
The band R.E.O. Speedwagon formed in 1967. They have four US Top 40 hits. They have sold more than 40 million records through their career. They are still a popular act today.
