t is not certain where Vermeer was apprenticed as a painter, nor with whom, but it is generally believed that he studied in his home town.He owned some paintings or drawings by Carel Fabritius so it was suggested that Fabritius was his teacher. Another theory is he may have been taight by Abraham Bloemaert.
In 1622-24 he studied under the Italy-trained painter Jacob Isaacszoon van Swanenburgh. However, the succeeding half-year studies under Pieter Lastman, the Amsterdam artist of historical paintings, influenced Rembrandt's work much deeper.
Rembrandt's parents sent him to the University of Leiden at the age of 14. He was not interested so he left t study art. After six months he mastered everything he had been taught. At 22 he returned and taught art there.
